Promise 04/08/2008
I know I promised I'd get to parsing the candidate's "green" qualities...but this blog is about another type of promise. After our discussion of "great" rock and rollers, and after Hal's comments about most famous women anythings...it occured to me that I'd like to talk up a performer I feel is particularly talented...a woman with promise. CommentsHal Tue, 08 Apr 2008 17:07:07 I always thought Linda Ronstadt has about the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Too bad she strayed away from rock. Also too bad she always seemed to record other peoples former hits. I must also admit I had a 'crush' on her in the 70's. Tue, 08 Apr 2008 18:12:57 I discovered Dar Williams after hearing "Beautiful Enemy" playing in a Barnes & Noble a few years ago. Folk may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I find her lyrics a bit more poetic than most folk music and I like her sensibility. (Of course, I could just like the fact that she was able to rhyme "enemy" with "hegemony.") Laura Wed, 09 Apr 2008 20:21:18 Yeah, Ronstadt did have a beautiful voice...and I did not have a crush on her! Laura Wed, 09 Apr 2008 20:22:16 Thanks, Ken. I'll check out Dar Williams and the Emmylou Harris album, both! Leave a Reply |
